Aerotek Scientific

Who here hasn’t heard of Aerotek?  Aerotek (part of the Allegis Group) has a Clinical Recruiting Division which provides contract, contract-to-hire and direct hire placements.

Aerotek commits to having recruiters dedicated to the clinical research industry.  They do have a nationwide reach, I found a blog on Google+, career articles posted on their website, and a solid LinkedIn and Facebook presence.  I think Aerotek overall is going to be pretty solid to work with; although, from my view, there are going to be pros and cons of partnering with any company the size of Aerotek.

The pros?  Aerotek has a large staff and can dedicate a lot of recruiters on your positions in order to fill your needs quickly.

The cons?  Recruiter turnover is going to be higher than at a smaller “family like” firm.  With higher attrition of your recruiting staff, it is important to note the risks.  Newbie recruiters can:

  • be non-responsive if green or not held accountable to stringent communication policies
  • provide false information because they just don’t know the right answers
  • may miss many of the details in the qualification process because they don’t know the industry that well
  • may not understand the importance of matching the candidate’s qualifications to your company culture
  • may accidently misrepresent your company, which can harm your brand

The good, bad, and ugly is then passed to you which may impact the quality of your candidates and the results of your study.

If you work with Aerotek’s Clinical Research Recruiting division, I would definitely recommend you request a dedicated account manager as a single point of contact.  Also, ask if you will be assigned a dedicated team to work with – and of course, ask how seasoned those recruiters are.

    I am an Operations Manager for a medium sized Medical Device company and have used Aerotek to recruit Contract Regional CRAs in the past.

    I stopped using them when one of their recruiters called me up to shout at at me because I was using other agencies besides Aerotek. This recruiter demanded to know who I thought I was in actually using more than one recruiting agency to staff CRAs.

    The interesting thing is that my best candidates didn’t always come from Aerotek…I can tell you is that I won’t use them again. An agency who let’s their recruiters speak to the customer that way is not one I would recommend.

    Aerotek is solid, however I sometimes feel I am not a priority for them. It is fair that we don’t need many resources, but I should still be given prioritized attention even if I only need one or two.

    Well, I was just rejected from working on a future contract with PAREXEL and I blame Aerotek.

    Last spring (2012), I worked through Aerotek on an assignment to PAREXEL. There was some continual glitch and I had to constantly stay on top of Aerotek to get paid. After a couple of months of it, I had had enough and left the contract.

    I was just told that PAREXEL will not consider me for future contracts because I left last year’s contract early. I had to, though – I wasn’t getting paid? Now I am blacklisted at PAREXEL? How is that fair?

    Their re-hire process is broken. I was just re-hired (less than 90 days from my old assignment) and was asked to repeatedly come back and forth to their office to complete paperwork.

    The only reason a person should return to the office is to have them complete paperwork. And since all of my paperwork was unchanged, it is ridiculous that I had to drive back and forth. The process is BROKEN!
