PharmaLogics Recruiting has a team of about 11-50 employees according to LinkedIn. Their website is heavily devoted to obtaining more clients and they are a contingency based recruiting firm.

PharmaLogics Recruiting has open jobs ranging from marketing and engineering, to supply chain/logistics and manufacturing. This company appears to recruit for several different industries besides clinical research although they do offer a
guarantee on all positions.

Onpoint Consulting is a soup to nuts recruiting agency. Their website is nice, it is easy to read and well thought out. They have a nationwide search capability however it seems they are both a staffing firm and also a management consulting firm in many different industries.

Real Staffing

Real Staffing specializes in clinical research operations plus other areas, and they recruit a vast number of positions in management, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, data, safety, production, sales, and marketing to name a few. Interestingly, this company recruits for positions outside the US as well. Their clients are located in the UK, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Singapore.

Their UK division, Real UK, specializes in Banking & Finance, IT, Public Sector and Healthcare recruitment.

Real Staffing works both permanent and contract positions and when looking at their open requisitions, for each job listed you are also given the direct contact information to the recruiter you will be assigned to which I thought was neat.

ClinForce (now DOCS, ICON)

In the past, I was a huge fan of ClinForce.  The ClinForce organization was founded in 1983 has been a nationwide provider of clinical research professionals for over 30 years.

This past February, however, ClinForce announced they were to be acquired by DOCS, ICON.  For me, this is sad news as ClinForce will be integrated into DOCS, ICON’s resourcing division.

The ClinForce we have all grown to know as a top clinical recruitment agency will cease to exist.

While I have no doubt that ICON will benefit greatly from the acquisition of ClinForce, the assimilation of this company into ICON’s resourcing operations poses a great question to the rest of us who may have used (or would like to use) ClinForce’s recruiting services.  When ClinForce (aka DOCS, ICON) recruits great CRAs, where do you think ClinForce will place them?

Great CRAs recruited by ClinForce will be placed on ICON projects, of course!  I have an article which goes deeper into my thoughts on why you should be cautious when using a CRO as a staffing agency so I won’t go into details here.  But I would challenge you to consider this:  If you are currently on ClinForce’s client list, where do you think their recruiting priorities are…your resource needs or ICON’s?

MEIRxRS

A company with three divisions, MEIRxRS offers “customized employment service solutions” in the retained recruiting, full service staffing and CRO areas.  For retained recruiting, the Med Exec international division advertises a focus on mid to executive level professionals. Their job board, however, tells a different story, showing positions in many different roles and functions (not just clinical research) with 1,512 open positions at the time of this writing.

Having this many open “soup to nuts” positions is very concerning and would lead me to believe this company is huge.  However, while their website is impressive, further digging showed this is a small company with a LinkedIn profile advertising the company size to be one (yes – 1).  There appear to be 4 employees on LinkedIn and the Med Exec International subdivision shows a company size of 1-10 employees.

With the small size of MEIRxRS, the “soup to nuts” focus is concerning to me.  As a hiring manager, I would want my position to be a primary focus to my staffing partner.  Additionally, I would want my staffing partner to be an expert recruiter in the clinical research field.  When my position is competing with 1,511 others in diverse fields, I would be concerned with how quickly the position is filled (and with what quality). Now, layer their double focus on CRO services and Clinical Staffing with the varied concentration on job types, and my concern grows even more.  As you know, I am always cautious using a CRO as a staffing company and I would ask you to consider one question before engaging any CRO to be your staffing agency:  If a CRO recruits a great CRA, where do you think they are motivated to place him/her?
