MEIRxRS

A company with three divisions, MEIRxRS offers “customized employment service solutions” in the retained recruiting, full service staffing and CRO areas.  For retained recruiting, the Med Exec international division advertises a focus on mid to executive level professionals. Their job board, however, tells a different story, showing positions in many different roles and functions (not just clinical research) with 1,512 open positions at the time of this writing.

Having this many open “soup to nuts” positions is very concerning and would lead me to believe this company is huge.  However, while their website is impressive, further digging showed this is a small company with a LinkedIn profile advertising the company size to be one (yes – 1).  There appear to be 4 employees on LinkedIn and the Med Exec International subdivision shows a company size of 1-10 employees.

With the small size of MEIRxRS, the “soup to nuts” focus is concerning to me.  As a hiring manager, I would want my position to be a primary focus to my staffing partner.  Additionally, I would want my staffing partner to be an expert recruiter in the clinical research field.  When my position is competing with 1,511 others in diverse fields, I would be concerned with how quickly the position is filled (and with what quality). Now, layer their double focus on CRO services and Clinical Staffing with the varied concentration on job types, and my concern grows even more.  As you know, I am always cautious using a CRO as a staffing company and I would ask you to consider one question before engaging any CRO to be your staffing agency:  If a CRO recruits a great CRA, where do you think they are motivated to place him/her?

ReSearch Pharmaceutical Services

ReSearch Pharmaceutical Services, most commonly known as RPS,  is a huge global CRO, and with a CRO they are plagued by the same problems as every other CRO out there. One of the fastest growing top CROs, RPS specializes in clinical research from operations, pre-clinical, data, and also has divisions in quality and regulatory affairs.

RPS has career opportunities in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Interestingly, PRA International and RPS are merging to become one huge CRO. Advanced Clinical

Advanced Clinical lists themselves as a CRO, however in addition to their full-service CRO offering, they also provide a Functional Service Provider (FSP) strategy as well as an “on-demand” staffing solution to their clients.

One of the positives of Advanced Clinical is that they have over 17 years’ experience in the clinical research industry.  Their reach expands the nation, and they have a solid LinkedIn presence.  I noticed they have a blog and Facebook page, although neither seem to be very active.

With Advanced clinical’s client base and nationwide reach, I am sure they have clinical research professionals on the bench ready to be deployed on your projects at a moment’s notice.  However, while I am a fan of CROs and believe great quality CROs are an integral part of the clinical research industry, I am always cautious using a CRO as a staffing company.  I always wonder if the CRAs sitting on a CRO’s bench are part of their “A” team.

I have an article which goes deeper into my thoughts on this topic so I won’t go into details here.  I would just ask you to consider one question before engaging a CRO to be your staffing agency:  If a CRO recruits a great CRA, where do you think they are motivated to place him/her?

CRA America

CRA America is an affiliate of Clinlogix and advertises themselves as both a CRO and CRA staffing company.  I thought CRA America was interesting as they appear to have the same (or at least very similar) focus as Clinlogix.  So to me, CRA America and Clinlogix seem to be more like competitors rather than affiliates.

Either way, we could not find a LinkedIn presence, mature Facebook page, or blog for CRA America.   There were also no jobs posted on CRA America’s website.  Clinlogix also has a small internet footprint with their LinkedIn page indicating they have between 11-50 employees with 22 employees on LinkedIn.

I would be concerned with the size of CRA America and Clinlogix since both of these companies advertise they offer CRO services as well as Clinical Staffing services….you can only stretch a service provider so much.

Additionally, I am always cautious using a CRO as a staffing company.  While CROs likely have monitors on the bench ready to be assigned to your projects, I always wonder if these CRAs are part of their “A” team.

ConsignMed Inc

ConsignMed Inc is a global CRO with staffing areas in Pharma/Biotech/Medical Device plus Clinical Research and healthcare delivery. Established in 2003, they have been in business for ten years.  Their jobs can be found on outside websites such as Monster and on Glassdoor.com.

Compared to other recruiting agencies, ConsignMed Inc has many online tools to help their candidates be competitive. They have a resume building tool on their website as well as a proprietary online training program for their consultants.
