Another niche recruiting firm to notice is craresources.  The company was established in 2007 and while they do focus on the recruitment of clinical research professionals, their primary claim to fame is the placement of CRAs.

So I guess you can say they have a niche within a niche.  They have an outstanding LinkedIn presence with a very mature LinkedIn Group which only allows clinical professionals (no recruiters, no one from outside of the clinical research industry).  They also have a very active blog where they provide ongoing resources and support to their job seekers and hiring managers.

Their size is fairly small (11-50 employees with 19 recruiters listed on LinkedIn), but with them being so specialized in our industry, I don’t see their size as an issue.  The other thing I noticed was that they offer a 90 day money back guarantee on their permanent placements.  I know a lot of recruiting companies offer some type of “guarantee”, but it is nice to see a company put it into writing.

They have a nationwide reach (all of North America, actually), have an expertise in direct sourcing passive candidates, and a low attrition rate.

    I agree with J. craresources is consistent when it comes to providing great quality CRAs. I have used them for several years and they meet a fine balance between providing quality candidates and doing it quickly.

    And they deal with problems quickly too – and there will be problems as humas are humans.

    We have used craresources for 3+ years now. Their CRAs are high quality and at a reasonable rate. The turnover is low and the account manager I work with is very responsive.

    Volume (45-50 CRAs at a time) is sometimes hard for them. But if you need 5, 10, or even 20 CRAs within a couple of days they can get you exactly what you are looking for.

    As a candidate – the craresources recruiters *force* you to schedule appointments with them. This is frustrating for me.

    Aren’t recruiters supposed to be available for you when you need them?

    Zach, I am so glad I was logged in when you made this comment. I do appreciate you sharing your statement, but no…I don’t believe good recruiters sit around hoping candidates are going to call them. I believe good recruiters are on the phone networking and building relationships.

    If you have a recruiter who answers the phone every time you call, then that is not a busy recruiter. Busy recruiters have jobs – jobs which you need as a candidate. Wouldn’t you rather work with a busy and organized recruiter rather than one sitting around waiting for the phone to ring?

    I spoke with the Head of CRA Recruitment yesterday regarding a reference she was completing on a CRA who used to work for me.

    She told me about their reference process – it is incredibly thorough! If your recruiting agency doesn’t check both Site and Supervisor references, you are missing out.

    Additionally, they actually speak to the candidate’s supervisor references. They don’t accept peer references (i.e., other CRAs vouching for them) and they don’t accept references who worked with the candidate more than 3 years ago.

    I was extremely impressed!

    Thank you for sharing, Leslie! I know of many recruiting agencies who never check references.

    I strongly recommend you ensure the agency you use does…ask for a copy of the completed forms WITH the contact information of the individuals providing references included!

    If your recruiting agency won’t supply this information, you should consider finding another agency.
